Title: Linkstation - Model HS-DH500GL
Post by: neely3d on November 14, 2008, 10:11:14 AM

This morning, I came in and powered up the Link Station. The drive was making a periodic click sound, and incidentally, was not coming up at all. After a restart of the unit, The click sound has been resolved, but the drive still does not come up. Eventually, I noticed the fan on the back of the unit is not operating. Is this a drive failure or possibly a power supply failure? Can I have a local tech remove the drive and retrieve the data, while waiting for a replacement unit or part?

We are down.

Thanks

The click sound would be the hard drive.  If the unit is out of warranty you can replace the hard drive, however if you are in warranty I would get the unit replaced via support.

I have the same problem. I'm now sending it back for the second time at great expense due to customs duties to Canada. What a drag. Unit is only a few months old.
