Hi,
I bought 1tb HD-CEU2 recently, but I can't get the eco manager to work.
I have enabled the power saving mode, but when I try to schedule (or use the 'Sleep Now'-button), the eco manager still says that "You must first enable this feature from Buffalo program menu before you activate the power saving mode".
So is there some Buffalo program menu or did I miss something else?
I've also tried to download the new v3.0 fw for eco manager, but to be honest, I really don't know what to do with it? If I run the CEU2_FWUP_303, it just finds the CEU2_0300 iso file which also came with the update and says "F/W of this device is the latest".
Or is this a compatibility problem, I read that there are some issues with power saving and vista. Does that include also the eco manager? Or could it be because I have 64-bit operating system?
Product: 1.0TB HD-CE1.0TU2
DriveNavi v3.0.2.18
Eco manager fw 1.0.1.0
My system: Windows Vista Home Premium SP2 64-bit
Any help is much appreciated! :)
//edit: added DriveNavi version number
I just bought a similar product and I am encountering the same exact problem. Does anyone have a solution? Pls help! :D
Product: HD-CE1.0TIUS
My OS is Windows 7 Professional 64 - bit
Same here. 64-bit Win 7 also. Exchanged emails with Buffalo support. Win 7 not supported by any of the drivers or applications. No ETA.
I find this very odd and very disappointing since Win 7 is the current os and the problem is known. At least give us an ETA.
i have the same problem. so bump.
running win7 64
I also have the same problem with Windows 7 64-bit
me also. Windows 7 64bit.
I will pass this up to see if there is any head way on this issue.
Hi,
I am having the same problem with Windows 7 64 bits.
Is there something new about this problem ?
I wonder if using software designed for more recent drive would help to resolve this issue.
I saw that in more recent models Eco manager seems to have been replaced by something like "Power saving utility for HD", but it is impossible to download on Buffalo's website to give it a try...
I would appreciate to be given access to such software as ones for HD-CEU2 are not up to date. My drive is always plug on my computer and it would be good for him to spin off from time to time...
Thanks for any help on this !
Hi, same as above. Upgraded to 64bit Windows 7, and the drivstation Eco manager now says drive is not connected, then suddenly it does... Scheduler says I need to enable eco first, which depending on which window I believe is done... but it just doesn't work.
Anyone found any kind of solution?
Hi Beecham,
Since I did not found any usefull peace of software from Buffalo, I am now using HDDScan to spindown my USB Buffalo drives.
Since auto idle timers won't work better, I launch a batch script made with HDDScan every two hours using Windows scheduled tasks !
So they wake up and spin down every 2 hours, but that's the best I found since it appears that you can't check the drive status without making it spining up... But during these hours they are not spinning unless I am using them !
Hope it will help you...
Cheers for the pointers, considered a bathc process but that doesn't really work as full solution for me. The drives are setup for a HTPC so never quite know when someone in house will want to watch something (well beyond 2am and they should all be asleep by then). The old eco manager, though not brilliant did do what I needed, if nobody was accessing either drive (had an older 1tb Drive too) then they'd spin down after 10 minutes and just wait...
Guess I'll just wait for now to see if buffalo come up with anything.. not the most annoying thing but was certainly part of the reason I bought another Buffalo as opposed to a different brand...
Thanks again
I am too using that on a home server and files on these USB drives are accessed mainly from my HTPC but also from friends by FTP and VPN. So I don't really know when they will be accessed, but I did some tests and there is no problem when the spin down command is launched even if the drive is used by someone. Viewer won't noticed anything, even if they are watching a 1080p Bluray. :)
But I agree, a real timer for a spin down after 10 min of idle would have been perfect ! But saddly we might never get it, and it's better than having these driver runing 24/7...
Ill give the above a try and see how I get on, thanks again.
