Hi,
I've bought an Buffalo LinkStation Live 500GB, as I need NAS storage and the NAS delivers a printer server functionality, which I was looking for as well. The NAS is attached to a Linksys Gigabit Switch as all other PCs (LAN) and one Notebook (WLAN through Router).
In many cases printing (Samsung CLP-315) is no issue. But sometimes I have trouble to open the printing preferences and the system seems to be stalled. Nothing happens then and the application I want to print from (mainly Firefox) hangs (this could be repeated). Just printing the document (without opening the preferences) does work properly, but I want to change the printer options (color, page setup etc.) before printing, which does not work properly every time.
In such a situation (when the printer does not respond to the request) the whole system gets slow. Trying to print from another application is also very slow. Even - after canceling/stopping the application I got initially troubles with to enter the preferences settings - the system is slow and the printing device overview is very slow responding.
Do any one have an idea, what could cause the NAS to respond such slow ? I couldn't figure out, when this happens, it just happens by accident. Usually, I switch on PC or Notebook, NasNavigator starts the LinkStation and when I want to print something I switch on the printer a few minutes before printing. I did not had any issues with the printer connected to a PC directly via USB and use this PC as print server (but this was not useful anymore).
Kind regards,
Joe
You can try to flash the firmware if there is an update, or reinitilize the device to factory defaults.
Hi,
I've already updated firmware from 1.06 to 1.07, which seems to be latest version for my LinkStation.
