Title: Restrict Permissions on TeraStation III (FTP)
Post by: mainstay on November 23, 2009, 11:29:33 PM

TeraStation III 2 TB (RAID 5) running 1.10.

I create a user called remoteuser with an assigned password.  I create a new shared folder with Read & Write Attributes and Windows & FTP access and enable restrict access.  I then assign that newly created remoteuser to this group.  After much hair pulling I found the hidden option to enable that user to have read & write capabilities.  I have enabled the web extension WebAccess and can connect to the FTP server 100%.

I can READ files but am unable to WRITE.  Uploading and file deletion is simply not allowed.

What the what?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

so it is easier to set up an xp pro system running filezilla server and give access that way. I have purchased 2 x 2 TB NAS + 5 Buffallo linkstations on a good recommendation. Their basic functionality seems to work (RAID 5) but anything beyond that seems to be unstable, unreliable, and quirky (hidden drop-downs?). You are telling me that a unix-based OS cannot get file permissions right? what? These were not cheap systems and I am very disappointed. I will not be installing these in any more of my clients offices (the QNAP looks like they have their sh*t together). Thank you for the lack of support (7 days and no answer). Buffalo no more. --m

This is a user/help forum, and moderators pipe in, but more often endusers answer posts. If you were seeking an immediate answer to a support question, you need to call the support team, not post a question on a forum.
