Title: Linkstation disappears after couple of minutes
Post by: Nasse on November 21, 2009, 04:30:27 AM

I just bought Buffalo Linkstation Live 1TB (LS-CHL523, firmware 1.10). It's connected to Telewell TW-EA501 modem, which is connected to Buffalo AirStation G54.

Everything works for couple of minutes, but after that NAS Navigotor can not find LS any more. If I switch the power off and on again from LS, it's found again but disappears

same way. Power switch state is ON. I have tried every modes. Same thing.

I have Windows XP and  McAfee firewall. NAS Navigator and NAS power management service have been  given permissions to access Internet. NAS Navigator version is 2.22.

I have also tried resetting factory setting. Nothing helps.

Other thing is that if I set the power mode to OFF, LS won't turn off. I have waited several minutes. The only way to turn it off is unplugging power cable.

Is my NAS broken or what's is happening? Any ideas?

Just to verify, you have your linkstation plugged into your airstation and the modem is plugged into the wan/internet port on the router?  I want you to try to do a direct connection to a pc workstation, also start the computer up in safe mode with networking < usually holding f8 during bootup.  Once in there see if the device powers down as it did before.  If it stays on for a little while maybe 7 minutes, then you can try to flash the firmware on the device.  If that goes through and still having an issue, call in for a replacement, if you have a valid proof of purchase and it's within a year of purchase.

Linkstation is not plugged to Airstation, it is plugged to Telewell router . So I have a 4 port router and Linkstation and Airstation are plugged to this router. That should be ok, or is it?

I will try the direct connection tomorrow.

I tried to download firmware but is says that I have invalid serial number? Serial number is 15845791038083.

It also says, that "Firmware is provided and supported for North American Users only". Why is that?

I am from Finland.

I managed to download the 1.21 firmaware, but can't do upate. Updater says that it can not find any LS  that need to be updated. That's weird, because I have 1.10 firmware.

By the way, my LS is manufactures Oct. 2009, so it is pretty new.
