Title: Reconfiguring Tera Station from RAID 5 to RAID 10
Post by: Dan23 on November 20, 2009, 11:17:48 AM

Hello,

I have an 8 TB Buffalo station. After seeing the results having it setup on RAID 5 I very much want to change to a RAID 10 as backing up servers is impossible due to the slow through put speeds as the backup software results in a failed backup.  What would be, if there is any, the best way to convert to a RAID 10.

The only way Im thinking of doing this, so far, is movoing the information off the Tera, to a temporary storage drive, then moving my VM library to the same. I will then reformatt and establish the to RAID 10 which will reduce the drives to 4gb capacity but give me the speed I need over the network to perform backups.

Any suggestions?

Your process seems like the way to go, backup data. delete raid array, create raid array in raid 10 and move data back.
