I am sure this is a really simple question, and apologise in advance for my lack of knowledge ...I really am a complete novice !

Op Sys : Windows Vista (Business/Home basic)

 

I have installed the LinkStation on the main PC in the office (PC1 running Vista Business).  I was unable to plug directly into the wrireless router as this in another part of the building that I don't have access to at the moment, so it is directly connected to PC1.  I have reset the RAID setting, and I do appear to be able to use the new storage from PC1.  From my own PC (PC2 Vista Home Basic), I cannot even ping the Linkstation's IP address.  I don't know where to look for help.  Any help gratefully received.
