Title: LS-GL that needs updating wasn't found
Post by: bazjapan on November 14, 2009, 05:13:28 AM

Hi, a couple of days ago my LS 500 GL stopped working.

It gave me 4  flashes which suggests a faulty fan.

I tested the fan which was fine.

I have also taken the hard drive out and the data is accessible via a linux box I have.

I decided to try forcing the firmware following the instructions at

http://forums.buffalotech.com/t5/Storage/FAQ-2-of-3-Force-Firmware-update-procedure-please-read-this/m-p/11011

I ran the tftp program and was able to connect. I think.

Well, it gave me 2 messages telling me that so many blocks had been served to

192.168.11.150:1175 & 192.168.11.150:3878

However, when I tried to update using the LSUpdater. The software cannot find the drive.

I have turned off the firewall, tried to connect in EM mode and normal mode and also tried to find the drive via NAS navigator.

But alas no joy.

Any ideas what could be wrong, or what I can try next?

I'm assuming you are able to ping the IP? You might also try booting the computer into "Safe Mode With Networking".

Thanks,

No luck here. I put the computer in safe mode with networking but can only get to the same point as before. I tried pinging 192.168.11.150 but it just timed out. Could it be on a different IP address, I wonder.
