Title: Replacing failed drive in LinkStation Pro Duo
Post by: mistermike on November 13, 2009, 11:40:53 AM

My setup has 2 500 GB drives in RAID 1 array

The utility has informed me that drive 1 was not found and was taken offline. Can I assume the drives are numbered 0 and 1? If so which one is which in the enclosure from whatever position allows access. Rear?

If I replace it with a 1TB drive and obviously only get half the available capacity, will eventual replacement of the other drive with a 1 TB unit allow full capacity automatically, or would I have to back up data and rewrite to the new array?

Should be Drive 1 and 2.

Try this first.

-Open the web browser and go to "http://ipaddress" with the actual IP address instead of the word (this will usually mean http://192.168.something)

-Click on "Disk Management"

-Click on "RAID SETUP"

-Click on "RAID Array 1" on the main section of the page. This should bring you to a page with the two disks in the array with checkboxes next to them.

-Click the one unchecked box and click "Restructure". This should get your data back in order and make the drive accessible.
