Title: Buffalo 1TB Hard Drive - HD-CE1.0TU2 CRC error
Post by: mfouda on November 12, 2009, 09:11:23 AM

Dear All,

While copying data from my 1T USB hard disk, I got a CRC error message. Also some data are very slow while I transfer, or when I browse the hard disk, I found it very slow.

The hard disk is full of data, and formatted into only one partition with FAT32.

While I am booting the PC, sometimes it requests a scan for this disk, but it takes hours with 0% completed so I cancel.

My question is what to do? is this is bad sector?? or malware??? should I reformat with NTFS?? should I go back to the shop and request to exchange the disk with a new one?? Please let me know.

Thanks in advance....

CRC errors typically indicate HDD failure.  Make sure that you have a backup, then reformat the drive (NTFS is a good choice).  If you continue to get the errors, you should get a replacement.
