What I did:

1.  Opened brand new linkstation live LS-CHL 1.0 Tb

2.  Plugged power cord into outlet

3.  Plugged network cable into router

4.  Inserted CD into a laptop that is accessing the network wirelessly via router.

5.  Ran initial setup of linkstation.  (following instructions on each page)

6.  The setup found the Linkstation device, but when I selected it from the dropdown menu I received the following error.  I cannot proceed with setup and cannot continue to install any software off CD.

Error (verbatim)

"setup is failed because administrator password is changed"

I have no idea what this means.  Can anyone help?

ok, I read the guidelines after posting...sorry.  Here is the other requested info.

I believe that I have firmware version 2.1.0 (at least the label on the CD indicates that)

My internet service is via cable.  I have the cable run into a wireless router (linksys).  The Linkstation is plugged via network cable directly into the wireless router.  The computer that I am using is accessing the network wirelessly via the same router.

Does this cover everything?

Please make sure that you post things in the correct place.  This is a NAS device not a wireless product.

Operating system is Windows XP Media Center Edition, Version 2002, SP3.

You can download the software off of our website.  Try downloading it from there and see if you have any success.

For the information of other people looking for a solution to this problem "Setup failed due to password changed". We had the same problem on a Windows XP machine, but using the latest installer (v1.24) did indeed cure it.
