Title: LinkStation permissions issues only on some folders
Post by: zurn on August 13, 2020, 12:53:24 AM
I have an old LS-CHL that has worked for years, but just today after looking through some folders i've discovered that some folders are not accessible, even at the same level that others *are* accessible.  In Windows i get the "Network Error - Windows cannot access" error.

For example, i have a volume 'sarahback' that i have mapped on a PC as S:\.  I can access S:\other, but i can't access S:\Documents.  I can access S:\Videos but not S:\Pictures.  I've used this volume for years to do backups and never had an issue, and i've never seen this be a problem before.  This is now a problem on several different vols.

Firmware is 1.73, and i was looking at it getting ready to do my secondary backup before i take any steps on it.  As it happens i'd just upgraded my home internet which required a new modem/router.  I was reconnecting all my pcs to the shares and making sure they all worked.  I had one system (Windows 10 May 2020, ver 2004) that strangely couldn't properly connect after that when it had the day before the modem change.  I added a user and was trying different options with adding a Windows credential and finally got it to work, which was odd because i've never had to do that before either.  just full disclosure:  i did create a user and apply it in different ways to a totally different volume than i'm having trouble with now, but seems like that shouldn't matter.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks!
