I had problems with the print server on my Linkstation Duo NAS too, the server was way to slow.

I discovered you can speed it up a lot by using the IP address of your Linkstation, instead of installing the printer driver the way it is explained in the manual.

So first uninstall the network printer.

Then go again to the printers list and right click: add printer.

Choose network printer, but don't choose search, type the address yourself after URL:

using the format \\ipnr\lp

so e.g. \\192.168.0.2\lp

if 192.168.0.2 is the ip address of your Linkstation (you can see the ip address in the NAS Navigator screen)

Then continue installing the printer driver as usual, selecting it from the list.

You will notice printing speeds improving a lot. That apparently because it doesn't need to resolve the IP address anymore.

Be sure to keep the IP address for you Linkstation forever, because if you use DHCP on your router it can change over time. In my Belkin router, I can reserve IP addresses for specific network clients like the Linkstation, or you could set static ip addresses instead.
