Title: Cannot access Linkstation Mini wirelessly
Post by: omaqsood on November 04, 2009, 01:41:07 PM

I'm not sure if this problem has been posted before but I've had a thorough search and not found a solution.

The problem I have is that I cannot access the shares on my Linkstation Mini wirelessly. I can see the shared folders but I get the following message when I tried to access any of the folders:

" \\LS-WSGLAF2\Share is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource.......The specified network name is no longer available."

Funnily enough, when I connect to my router via an Ethernet cable, the shared folders are accessible without any problems. I get this problem via Windows 7 and Windows Vista and only via a wireless connection - even the Web Admin is inaccessible.

Everything works fine under Windows XP, Mac OS X (Macbook) and XBMC (Acer Revo).

I'm using a Lenovo x200s laptop running Windows 7 and I have amended to Local Security Policy as well.

Any ideas?

Oz

Do an IP config both hardwired and wirelessly connected to the router on the vista laptop.  Let me know what it says for your IPv4 address'.

No luck, I'm afraid. Still get the same error. Can't be a problem with my router as I can access it from my Macbook fine. Also, have borrowed a friend's laptop and he can access the shared folders wirelessly in Windows Vista.

Seems like a problem with my laptop perhaps? Same problem occurs on my wife's lenovo x61s. Hmmmm....

Can you ping the unit when you're wireless?  Also what kind of router is it?

No problems pinging wirelessly:

Make sure that you have the most upto date firmware on the router and you have all of the firewalls disabled.
