Title: Can't find either LinkStation on my network through my new PC.
Post by: SimplyBranded on April 03, 2020, 12:28:25 PM
So I have a simple network for 4 PC's. I can see both my Buffalo Drives on all computers except my new one. I can see the other computers and as soon as I downloaded the NAS Navigator, I can see them in the screen. But I cannot figure out how to get them to show up on my Network on the new Computer. 2 PC's are WIN7, one is WIN10 and new one is WIN10. I've spent hours trying to get them to just show up and they won't. Any suggestions would be appreciated.  I store all my art files on them and want to start using my new PC to do graphics and can't access the files.

What model of Linkstation? You may need to enable SMB1 (a potentially risky move) to get the older NAS models to show up on your network. https://winaero.com/blog/enable-smb1-sharig-protocol-windows-10/

LS220D. I can see it on my other WIN10 PC, but it is 18 months or so old. So maybe there is something with the newer version of WIN10?

The LS220 supports SMB2, turning on SMB1 is not needed.

Probably.  To my understanding, one can't browse the network anymore with Win 10.

I think this changed in a newer version.  You can check your version by opening a command prompt, and type winver

You can try going to your network and sharing center- and turn on network browsing for your private network.  This might work.
