Title: Mediaserver does not show all files that I can see browsing from Windows.
Post by: msg5000 on October 28, 2009, 02:18:27 PM

i recently purchased a LS-CHL1.0TB drive to use as a personal media server.(FW 1.06?I think. will check and update) I am very happy with the product performance, but there are a large number of files that I cannot see through the media server.

I enabled the MediaServer and made sure that it was started by connecting to it with my PS3.

i copied all the .MP4 and AVI files i had on my Vista32 to a folder named Movies on the NAS.

I then Copied all files from my external hard drive(FAT32) to a different folder on the NAS.  (this hard drive was previously connected directly to my PS3 and all the content displayed and played correctly.)

I then moved these MP4 and AVI files from that folder on the NAS to the Movies folder on the NAS.

When I connected with my PS3, I could only see the files that were copied directly to the Movies folder from my Vista32, not those that were copied from the external harddrive to a folder then moved to the movies folder.

I have tried restarting the mediaserver with the same result.

All files can be seen and played from my vista32 system.

is there a limit to the number of files that the mediaserver will display, or is there something that I need to do to get those moved files to be seen correctly?  Would a reboot help?

thanks for any help you can give me.

Mark

I updated my FW to 1.07 and rebooted and now the files are all visible.

Do I need to reboot the NAS everytime I add new files to the shared folders to be able to see them through the mediaserver?
