Title: A couple of questions before I buy the Linkstation Pro LS-XHL
Post by: Steve247 on October 26, 2009, 11:15:29 PM

Hi,

I've bought and ebayed (i.e. sold) an Apple Time Capsule and Lacie ED mini. I think that the Linkstation Pro LS-XHL will meet my needs, but I have a couple of questions. 1) Can the Linkstation Pro LS-XHL be woken up remotely if I am not at home? 2) Many NASes support wireless cameras. I have an Axis 207W and would like to know if I can save to the Linkstation Pro?

thanks so much,

Steve

I can answer your first question.

If you can send the LS-XHL a WOL packet to port 9, then it can be woken up.

BUT it needs to receive WOL packet(s) on a regular basis (the Buffalo NAS Power Management Service sends it a group of three WOL packets at random intervals between a very few seconds and a minute) otherwise it will go to sleep again.

The camera should work if it can send data via smb.
