Title: Can't Edit Files on attached USB Drive
Post by: cessna1466u on October 26, 2009, 03:35:11 PM

Hey everyone, I have a 500gb Linkstation Gigabit NAS. It has a USB port in the **bleep**. I just attached a 2tb USB drive to one of the usb ports and I can see it, map it, and read from it but I can't edit anything on it. I cant move items into it or our of it. I can delete items on it, but when I try to edit one of the file names it tells me the that I don't have permission to do that. Everything that is in the actual NAS is fine, I can edit those files and do what ever I need, just the files that are in the attached USB drive are giving me the problem. Any ideas?

The drive must be formatted to ext3 to edit files.  Fat32 and NTFS are read only.  Also make sure that you have the most up to date firmware.
