Title: Unable to access Web Administration
Post by: jflem5210 on October 25, 2009, 06:08:51 PM

I have an LS-W2.0TGL/R1-V3 Link Station Pro. Everything works except for being able to access the web administration menus. This has worked in the past but I am unable to connect  even when I go through NASNavigator 2.

Whichever way I attempt to connect, NASNavigator 2 or directly via IE8 using the IP address (which is a static address), I receive the following message:

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, admin@localhost and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Apache/1.3.34 Server at LinkStation-LSGL Port 80

My firmware version is 3.08.All storage functionality works fine but, at this point, I wouldn't be able to create additional shares or active any of the other features available for this device.

I have two 1TB drives running in a RAID1 configuration.I have tried a number of things to diagnose this problem but nothing seems to get the web server working correctly. I did try turning the Linkstation off (left it off for a couple of minutes, but while everything came up accessible in terms of data, I still couldn't access the web server for admin purposes.

Finally, this device is plugged into a UPS device so it hasn't been affected by any power problems.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks,

Jim

Try using a different web browser (like firefox) and see if that makes a difference. Has anything changed since it stopped working (firewalls, security ect.)?

Nothing has changed. Now that you mention it, I believe I have updated from IE7 to IE8.

Have you tested Web Admin with IE8? If you haven't, it seems like you should.

Anyway, I'll try downloading **bleep** what I find.

Thanks,

Jim

It will work with IE8 but it could be a security setting thats enabled by default

Just downloaded **bleep**. I received the same error as I originally documented. Jim

I'm not sure why the Fire Fox browser name got bleeped out of my prior post...

I see firmware version 3.10 available for download. Is this acceptable?

I was trying to find instructions for installing the firmware. I haven't found anything yet. Do you have a link?

THanks,

Jim

Yes sorry, 3.10.  Its pretty simple, just download and unzip the firmware file.  Disable the firewalls on your computer and directly connected it to the switch/router the LS is connected to.  Then open the firmware file, click on LSUpdater.exe and click update!

That worked pretty slick. I now have access to the Web Admin pages.

I also turned on both Windows Firewall and McAfee's firewall. Everything still works.

Thanks for your help.
