Title: HD-CXU2 password problems
Post by: Nick on October 20, 2009, 10:25:20 AM

I want to reset my password but cannot. When connecting to computers at my university it requests a network ID (giving a few options in a dialog box and none of them work). I figured I could solve this simply by resetting my password and potentially avoid any login or connection process.

However there is no reset button on the back of my hard drive (It powers on when the USB connects). There is are inscriptions beside a small hole in the back of the enclosure reading "power mode" and "auto off," but there seems to be no button or device inside the hole either.

I have read other threads seemingly all of them only suggesting to hold down the reset button. Please advise.

you need to have the additional software installed to remove the encryption. Once done click start => all programs => buffalo => secure lock manager easy and there is an option to reset the password in there.

Bare in mind this will remove the data. the uni PC is probably severally restricted so not sure if you will be able to do this though. how to reset the password is also documented in the manual, but as usual im guessing you didnt read this :P
