Hi, I set up my LS-CH500L, backedup all my files onto it & set up the WebAccess Services & got my friend to access my files from his house all went fine apart from having to maunally set up the port on the LinkSation & my router (3com 3CRWDR101A-75) because ticking th "enable UPNP" on the router didn't seem to work. Anyway, this morning I tried to get my Dad to connect to my Linkstation via buffalonas.com & it just kept on timing out.
My question is, is it because I do not have a static Ip address (Most households in the UK don't have static Ip's) since last night my router automatically powered down & when it was used again this morning I was obviously given a new Ip address by my ISP.
If the problem isn't the fact that I do not have a static Ip the how does Buffalonas.com keep the details of my internet ip address updated so that it can redirect people from the buffalonas.com website to my Link Station?
When you setup the port 9k on your router it is recommended to do it to the static ip address set to that device. Could be the problem, if you have further issues contact your local support team and see if they are able to login.

I have set the Link Station up with a static ip address on my network (192.168.1.15) & have reserved this ip on the router & configured the port settings, what I mean is my ISP doesn't give out static ip addresses, it changes every time my router logs on.
Any ideas?
