I am running an HD-CELU2 storage device plugged in via LAN to my wireless router.

I am able to move files to the storage device, and take them off the device.

When I attempt to open a file from any of my computers, directly from the device, I get the following error:

"X [name of the file] is currently in use.  Try again later."

I know that none of the files are open on any computer. 

I am running Windows XP home. 

Any suggestions?  Thanks.

I would try resetting the unit.

When you say 'reset', do you mean:

1) re-format and re-install; or

2) turn it off, then turn it back on

I already tried #2, to no effect.

Go to the web interface, click on matenience then reset.

OK, I did that. 

Found out that I can open .pdf files, picture files, etc. without problem.

Cannot open Word, Excel files from the drive. I am using Word 2007 Home

I will test this and see if I can replicate the issue.

We are having the exact same issue with the two Win7.0 desktops connected to the HD-CELU2 storage device.  However, the older desktop on win XP is accessing the files ok.

We do know that the Flexnet is having compatability issues with windows 7.  We are working hard to get it supported.

Any progress on this problem?  I just connected a Drivestation with the same results; photos are accessible, word, excel, powerpoint are "currently in use".  This happens on both XP and Windows 7 laptops connected wirelessly.

It should work fine with windows XP, you might have a different issue.

I am having the same problem.  All operating systems.  We have tested Win XP Pro, Win Vista Home Premium, Win 7 Home Premium so far all with the same error message listed above.

Is someone at Buffalo working this problem?  I continue to get this message using both Win XP and Win7 Home premium.  Right now the drive is a paperweight.

We have same problem when using XP and Office2007.

OpenOffice opens both type of files; .doc and .xls.

There is a FW fix for this exact issue in Europe, not sure about the states though.

I too am experiencing the problem of not being able to open Microsoft Word & Excel files (.doc & .xls)

Running Windows XP Pro and Office 2007 Pro.

Buffalo DriveStation FlexNet model # HD-CE1.0TLU2

The download section of the buffalo site is rather difficult to determine what file(s) I need to for a firmware upgrade.

Can anyone e-mail me or post a link to teh actual firmware file needed to resolve this issue?
