Title: LS520DN0402 rebuild taking days
Post by: sumdumgai on October 14, 2019, 07:50:10 AM
I have a flashing red light on my LS520 and Navigator says it's rebuilding with status I18.  It's been like this for about 3 days.  Is this normal and should I just let it keep running or should I do something else?  Also, should it be possible to connect to the LS while it's rebuilding?  I get a 'Unable to connect' message saying the drive may be too busy when I try to logon.

Thanks

Two days later and still flashing red.  Any suggestions?  Thanks.

The Webif should be available on every state of the nas.

Thanks.  Regarding the WEGIF, if I try to connect via IP address, I get 'Unable to connect'.  If I try 'BuffaloNas.com, I get 'Invalid BuffaloNAS.com name, but I know the name I use is correct.

The exact time depends on a few factors but since it's not raid5 parity isn't an issue. Sometimes the rate is limited to prevent other issues but to rebuild a raid1 array or do a full fsck on a ~4tb array I would be concerned if it took more than a day.

I haven't used my 520 much but as mentioned earlier the web interface is independent of the drives, so if it's unavailable it would seem something is wrong.

Thanks.  After several days of flashing amber and I18, I decided to pull the plug.  I had tried to switch off, but that didn't do anything.  So, I disconnected power and reconnected.  It rebooted.  The WEBIF then worked and disk management said Disk 2 was not formatted.  I formatted it and started another rebuild.  This time it finished in about 3 hours.  No data loss.
