Issue:
Itunes on my local computer never sees the Linkstation as a server.
I've read through about 15 or so threads on this forum trying to find the solution to this, tried to restart the linkstation, restore it to defaults... still no dice.
The main problem here is that I just really haven't found a clear guide anywhere about how to use the installed media server. I'm unclear if the media server on my linkstation is the "Twonky" server, and if that server is the one that acts as an iTunes server as well as streaming video, etc. If indeed it is the Twonky then it appears it's not running, because when I go to
http://MY_IP_ADDRESS:9050 or
http://MY_IP_ADDRESS:9000 (I saw that mentioned somewhere...)
I get "Unable to connect" in the browser window.
Can anyone suggest a clear way to me that I can know if the media server is running? And if it's not running how can I get it running?
Thanks in advance.
Okay kiddos...
So one thing I did not do is DISABLE the media server and then ENABLE it via the web interface. Presto - that seems to have done it.
Now that I'm looking at the Twonky server it's a bit disappointing. The interface looks like it's made by someone's teenage cousin... but that's another issue.
Yup, disable then re-enable will do the trick.
Will definitely let your feedback be noted and sent to HQ.
