Title: can't access on linkstation pro duo
Post by: dzimnox on October 10, 2009, 10:52:24 PM

As soon as I add a new local user, I cannot access the linkstation on the network at all even though none of the shares have access restrictions enabled.  If I do enable restrictions and set the appropriate user permissions it'll deny the login credentials. I remove the newly added user account and I can begin accessing the network share as normal. The error message I receive is:

You might not have permission to use this network resource.

Login failure: unknown user name or bad password.

The above problem has been resolved with Buffalo's phone support team. (sort of)

model: LS-W1.0TGL

While uploading several folders to the network share, I've received an error twice:

Network routing can't be found. Confirm network cabling and connection.

It's continuing to upload my files, so I'm not sure what's going on.

I'm getting other warnings popping up during transfers, but can no longer see them. I get an alert that a message has been sent from the device, but I have no way of seeing what that message is. Task manager will show multiple tasks running called $$NASCHEDULE_WINDOW$$ but they won't appear anywhere on screen.  Doesn't this device have a log file somewhere?

Just shooting from the hip it sounds more like a Windows issue. Are you mapped by name or IP?

By name, and that may be the issue. Any time I made changes I have to log off windows and back in.  Haven't had these issues from the Mac, but I haven't tried using it as much from it.

I don't really have any issues once I have all the accounts created and everything set up.

Just for future reference, is there a way to flush out the login credentials a share is using? I've tried removing it and recreating it without any luck.

I also found out through the phone support guy that I wouldn't be able to have write access to the usb drive attached to the NAS without converting the file system to either XFS or HFS+(i think).  The read/transfer speed through the usb is incredibly slow when attached to the NAS rather than directly to my PC.

Have you tried going to command prompt and type in

netuse

to see which remote/share drives to delete

once you decide to delete selected share drives,

you can type in

net use /delete /computer name
