Hello,
I'm getting 6 red flashes on my LS-CHL-V2 1.0TB after installing firmware 1.21 :(
I've tried setting it to EM mode with no luck.
I've tried the TFTP approch and finally got a break but when i restart it it goes to E06 again.
I've tried to force a firmware update using the recomendations on a sticky thread but setting the flag VersionCheck = 0 doesn't seem to work.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Sounds like a bad drive. If it's within the one year call in for a replacement. Hopefully you backed up your data.
But acording to the manual on the Linkstation Live 6 blinks means corrupted firmware.
Isn't there a way to force the update?
It is supose to work, but it says it is the same version and there is no need to update.
since the firmware is also stored on the drives themselves it could still be a bad HDD. You said you "got a break with the TFTP but when you rebooted it was E06 again," did you actually update the firmware once it booted off the TFTP?
No, it booted with TFTP and I was able to access it. But when I restart it it goes back to E06.
The TFTP is a temporary kernal for the unit to boot off of. Once it boots you need to flash the firmware to replace the kernal on the actual unit.
As per TFTP procedure FAQ:
"After you see blocks of data being served the NAS typically boots to Emergency Mode at which point you can perform a firmware update. If your errors or issues persist I would suggest contacting your regional technical support or posting on this forum."
I did'nt mentioned that the unit was not booting with the original TFTP image. After goggling a litle I found someone that did the following:
Delete initrd.buffalo, u-boot.buffalo and uImage.buffalo from the TFTP Boot folder - these are the files you'll be replacing.Unzip the LinkStation Firmware to your PC.initrd.buffalo is inside the tar file initrd.img, so unzip it to your PC; Copy initrd.buffalo from the firmware folder to the TFTP Boot folder.Copy uImage.buffalo from the firmware folder to TFTP Boot folder.Copy u-boot.buffalo.updated from the firmware folder to the TFTP Boot folder.Rename u-boot.buffalo.updated to u-boot.buffalo (in the TFTP Boot folder)
This way I am able to boot the LS.
It looks like you didnt use the correct TFTP file then.
try this link:
ftp://buffalo@209.252.83.162/share/nas-recovery/TFTP%20Boot%20Recovery%20LS-CHL-V2%201.21.exe
password is buffalo
Ok, it is the same as the password :)
I've tried the TFTP image you sent but the problems are the same.
Can't force the update and after reboot I get the 6 red flashes.
Just two more things.
When I access the drive after TFTP the web accesse is in chinese :smileysurprised: and all my data is gone.
If you don't have any more sugestions I will ask for another drive as it has only three weeks.
Thank you.
You do not reboot after you do the TFTP, you just update the firmware. Are you saying that it won't be found by the updater? Make sure the navigater is closed out and all firewalls are disabled. Also make sure you have a direct connection.
The drive is found but it says there is no need to update. I don't reboot it befor I try to update.
I've returned the drive today and am waiting for a replacement.
