Title: Enable Recycle Bin Or Not?
Post by: tnbtaylor on October 04, 2009, 08:35:31 AM

I have Recycle Bin enabled on all my shared folders.  But, it seems the trashbox folder is created and filled with junk (i.e. duplicate files and other stuff) for no apparent reason.  Not sure how it keeps getting created and filled with files even when I don't delete anything.  I also get a folder called '$RECYCLE.BIN' created for no reason.

Does anyknow how the recycle bin works in the Linkstation?  Why does it create trash?

Is there any real advantage to having the recycle bin enabled in the shared folders?

Are you doing any backups to the LS?

Update:

Oddly enough, I get '$RECYCLE.BIN' folder created with a 'desktop.ini' file contained inside this folder.   This happens in all my shared folders.

The desktop. ini file has this: "[.ShellClassInfo]CLSID={645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E} LocalizedResourceName=@%SystemRoot%\system32\shell32.dll,-8964"

Does this have anything to do with Vista?  I am using firmware 3.10

Any help with this snafu would be appreciated.

Tom
