Title: Chugging drive, EM Mode
Post by: dreadpyrat on October 02, 2009, 09:36:14 PM

Hi all, my brand new Linkstation Live started chugging all by itself...no one was accessing the drive on my home network. The drive was silent and then suddenly started making a "shook shook shook" sound. I checked the NasNavigator and it stated that the drive is in "EM Mode". Also, the name of the drive has been replaced with some gobbledygook characters....something like "#*@#$%"

Is my drive hosed? What is going on with it? The user docs dont say anything about "EM Mode" and more troubling is that I wasnt doing anything to provoke it to freak out....

Thanks for any help.

Rob

I would try flashing the firmware.  If the units makeing a noise its possible that the HDD is bad.
