My LS-Q1.0TL/R5 was set to notify me via email if there is a status change in my storage array. So far it had been sending me a moderate (5-8) messages notifying me of normal maintenance messages and the occasional errors it found. But the day before yesterday, my inbox got flooded with over 180 messages saying there was a problem with an unknown drive in the partition.
And the flood continued into the next day until I was able to remote into the unit and disable the notifier service. I'm still getting a backlog of traffic from my mail server even after disabling it. The current count is over 400.
Absolutely not satisfactory. What can be done to throttle this traffic down to one message per incident, and/or per event?

Well, tack on another 600 email in my spam bin at yahoo. I'd love not to get my ISP's domain blocked by yahoo because of this. Let's find a resolution before this gets any more nasty.
Hmm, well its a non specific failure message. I would contact your local support for an RMA
Well, i figured out that the unit was issuing alarms one a minute. Overnight I had another 300 hit my destination mailbox. Yahoo has sent warnings to my account regarding the mail flood. Yahoo has a zero tolerance for spam and kinds of abuse like this. I'd rather have some kind of damage control done by the company regarding this event.
The damage has been done, this apparently is a software failure in the system BIOS.
So you feel that I need to RMA the unit. What happens to the data I have on it?
Well you can try a force firmware and delete the user config. There will be no data loss but all your user configs will be, thats about the only other thing to try.
We cannot guarantee the sanctity of your data, but we format the drives when we get them. If you need the drives securely erased you can take it to a data recovery specialist that we recommend (3rd party) and keep your guarantee in tact.
