Title: Re: HD-PFU2
Post by: mber on September 12, 2009, 12:05:08 AM

I bought a buffalo ministation HD PFU2 500gb last year, and a buffalo ministation HD PXU2, and theres some questions i have.

First, why is the HD PFU2 is detected as Hitachi HTS545050KTA300 USB Device on my computer, while the HD PXU2 is detected as BUFFALO HD-PXU 2 USB DEVICE on my computer?

Next, is the turbousb for HD PFU2 workable for windows 7? When i enabled it, the program says turbousb is enabled but the next moment all the drives are disconnected. When i scan for hardware changes in device manager/replugin the harddisk it shows Hitachi HTS545050KTA300 USB Device again. As for the HD PXU 2, I have no idea whether turbousb is enabled or not, since there is no notification of any kind though i kinda suspect its not working either.  Can anyone clarify with me this? thanks

Since the PFU2 is an unencrypted device the hardware (i.e. the hard disk manufacturer) will show up instead of HD-PFU2.  Since the PXU2 is encrypted the device is instructed to display as it is doing. We're still working out the kinks with the TurboUSB and encryption on Windows 7. Please bear with us and we'll display news as we find it.
