My Terastation NAS 2Gb has all four "Status/Full" leds lit red. I cannot access the web host even though the "Link/Act" led is green. Pind times out. Is this device dead or in need of something else.
It is set up on our network as shared storage with a fixed IP address.
I can't tell what firmware is on the device since I can't access the device through my browse.
Any help greatly appreciated.
PS: I have used the power switch to turn off: the "Status/Full" leds stay red.
Are you getting any error/info lights? Have you tried finding it with the NASNAVI in case the IP changed somehow (like for EM mode)?
The only red lights are those that say status/full. Green power and Link/ct lights.
I don't know what NASNAVIis. Is it something I can download fromhere?
Thanks...
The unit is failing to load its boot image since you have used all the storage on the device. It is for this reason the disk full lights are there. When you first saw this you should of removed some information, however you continued to crame more data onto it. Your only option would be to remove some data but since you cannot access the shares to manually delete them nor can you access the GUI to delete a share you are stuck between a rock and a hard place.
You only option as far as i know if data recovery unless someone else comes up with a better solution. FYI: EM mode and all that stuff will not work to i would bother trying!
Thank you for your reply. When I last looked there was about 130Gb free on the drive. It seems to me something else may be wrong other than it being full.
I am curious about this NASNAVI resource. Where can I get it.
Thanks...
NAS Navi 2 is a download from the Buffalo site. Go to the Buffalo website of your country, to downloads, then select your product to find NAS Navi 2
Thank you very much Memoryman! I downloaded the NAS Navi software. It found my drive right away but on an unexpected IP address. I unmapped the share and remapped with the real IP address and all seems OK now.
Drive is 94% full and the status/full lights are still red so I guess I'll be moving some stuff to a different drive. I'm also going to try to set up email notification of status.
Thanks again...
You are most welcome.
HDDs prefer something like 70% full at a maximum. Above that amount, it becomes increasingly difficult for a HDD to swap/move files around.
