Title: Linkstation Mini - cannot connect
Post by: cmcb on September 01, 2009, 06:15:07 PM

Hi

I recently purchased a linkstation mini 500gb NAS device. This worked for approximately 2 weeks and has suddenly stopped. The blue linkstation light is on, but I am unable to connect to the device. I can't access the webadmin, shared folders etc. I can ping the device, although ping drops off randomly. Example:

Worked fine with router previously, to which there has been no change. All other network devices seem to connect ok. I suspect the problem is with the device itself.

Please advise on how to troubleshoot this.

Thanks.

Hello there.

Not much response last time..

.

Anyway, things have changed slightly. I now have access to the UNBELIEVABLY SLOW web admin screen. I can log in, but thats about it. Clicking on one of the options takes forever and generally just hangs. What's with that? Is it just me?

Linkstation mini LS-WS500GL

Firmware 1.06 ( i upgrade it as i had no connectivity)

Are you getting any error lights?  What does the NASNAVI say for the hostname?  Did you have any backups scheduled?

Nope. No error lights. All looks well. It's just unbelievably slow. Copying files to it wasn't exactly lightening fast originally, but it worked. Now it's not really copying anything because it's so slow. Have no idea what's causing it. It's plugged directly into my router (which I've just reset to rule out any problems with). I can browse it no problem by mapping a drive or using the navigator.

Hi

I am unable to transfer files to the linkstation unless I connect it to directly to my PC using an ethernet cable and setting them up on the same IP range.

This suggests a router issue, although everything else works fine.

Any idea WHY the router would cause problems?  I have a Netgear DGN2000 router.

Most current Netgear routers offer an online firmware update. Did you check and see if you had the latest? Of course don't ask me how I would check Netgear in that case ;)
