Title: SONY DLNA WORKS But: anyone managed to install PS3 media server on NAS?
Post by: chrisnasah on September 01, 2009, 04:07:09 PM

Has anyone managed to install PS3 media server on NAS saying that cos i have managed to get my laptop with the server to transcode and play videos on my sony bravia 32v5500.

Just wondering if anyone has managed to install this on linkstation...

i can see from the ps3 server forums that they have successfully got this working with synology NAS and transcode on the fly to ps3 and sony tvs.

If not does anyone know any other servers that will transcode on the fly from NAS and works well

Thanks

I use the built in twonkyvision server and it works for most of my needs.  Without opening up your firmware (don't think it's possible yet), I don't see how you could install PS3 Media Server.

oh ok thanks, wasnt sure it was that complicated. i thought it would be easier as to telnet into the NAS and install it via that, maybe not!

Jeffla is right.  You would have to use the built in media server to stream to the ps3.
