Title: Linkstation Pro Duo will not boot
Post by: mattofak on August 31, 2009, 06:58:07 PM

I have a Linkstation Pro Duo, model number LS-W1.0TGL/R1 thats been having some problems lately. A HDD in the array went down, so I replaced it and the linkstation successfully repaired the array. However, I did something stupid later and erased my array so I took a drive out to take an image of it.

After putting the drive back in the unit, whever I turn the unit on, the power LED flashes continuously and the LED at the bottom of the display is lit continuously. (I can't tell the colours as I'm colourblind) This continued even after I left the unit running for three days, in case it was checking disk integrity.

I can ICMP ping the unit, but other than that I cannot access any share or access the web admin panel.

And ideas?

Thanks;

Matt Walker

Try booting it into EM mode by holding down the reset/function button as the unit boots up.

   PCPiranha; After EM boot completed (only the power LED flashing), the same symptoms occurred. Power light continues to flash, and the bottom most LED lights.

Does it show in the NASNAVI?  If not try the TFTP procedure

   It did not originally show up in NASNAVI, I attempted a firmware reflash with the 3.08 TFTP procedure. It did connect and draw data. It showed up briefly in NASNAVI, but it reported it did not have an IP address. NasNavi asked me if I wanted to change the unit's IP address, but it failed at doing so. The unit now does not show up in NasNavi even after reboot. Additionally, on EM boot, the power led doesnt stop flashing. On normal boot, the power led doesnt light. The bottom most led is still lit A new symptom has appeared, the 'information' led blinks 6 times in repition.

That would be a E06 error.  Im a little confused on " I attempted a firmware reflash with the 3.08 TFTP procedure" did you do a firmware update? Or did you do a TFTP?  Or did you do the TFTP then update the firmware.  Those procedures are completly diffrent. And depedning on what you have done we can further help you out. Please clarify

   I did a TFTP, then updated the firmware.

Try the TFTP again, but do not automatically correct the IP address.  Just try flashing the firmware after it boots.
