Title: Backup problem.
Post by: Nahum01 on August 27, 2009, 10:50:03 AM

Hi all, I just finished to configure my new TeraStation Pro II on my network and added it to my Active directory enviromnt.

The problem now, is that i want to back my storage, and i saw a link in your site that i can only back this storage using a UNC share name, becuase i can't install an agent.

Iloged back in to the storage using my admin credentials, i created a share name, and added my backup user to this share, and when i add my storage  to the backup exec i get a window that asked me with what credentials do i want to backup the share. (it's strange because i added the specific backup user to the share with read/write permissions so what's the problem)?

further more, when i want to add users to the shared folder, i  right click the folder, going to seurity, and when i add a user and hit OK i get a message that the operation can not be complete, i guess this can be done only through the web console.

Hope you can help me out here, because right now, i'm stuck with a brand new storage which is useless to me unless i can backit up.

Best regards,

Nahum

Do you have any other shares mapped besides the backup share that you created?  Are there any access restrictions set?  Also when inquiring about a product please include a model number.

Hi kudos.

Yes i created a new share, and added the backup user to this specific share with persmissions to read/write in this specific share.

when i log in to the backup server, and log in to the new folder i created, isee that i can see the shared folder, BUT when i open the veritas backupexec and add the specific share like unc (\\servername\sharename) i get this annoying window that tells me that i need to add a specific account for backup (which i added this account previously in the management console).

So, i thought maybe i need to open  loca user on the storage with the exact user name and passoerd like the user on mt backup server, i did that, and added it to my new share, and gave it read/write permissions...and guess what....IT DOSEN'T WORK.

the serial number of my terastation ii is:45841584500103

Hope you aare some kind of magician becuase right now, this storage is useless to me unless i can back it up.

P.S

When i right click the share folder and want to add users, i get an error mesage, and i belive that's becuase this is a linux machine (i can see the root users in this window).
