Title: LS-CHL iTunes Server
Post by: Waddle08 on August 27, 2009, 04:40:48 AM

Hi All

I have recently bought an EU model LS-CHL 1TB NAS, running 1.10 fw. One of the reasons I bought the device was for the iTunes server, but when I try to use the shared library to copy music to my ipod, it doesn't work. I've found out that iTunes does not allow this for legal reasons, but I was wondering if there is a way around this issue possibly using the Twonky server on the NAS?

thx

you can map the drive to your PC then change the itunes default library location to this mapped drive (Edit => Perferences => Advanced)

This will import the music to your library and then you can add it to your ipod

Thanks Davo

Will give it a go tonight. Do I need to reference a specific file, or just the share.

No, just point it to the mapped drive itself.

Hi Davo

Have tried this, but no success, the shared library can't be copied to the ipod.

You dont copy the shared folder library, you need to import them into your iTunes library first of all.

Hi davo

Thanks for coming back to me, here's where I am. I mported the shared library into my iTunes. Then I moved the iTunes library files to the NAS. Then I started iTunes with "Shift" selected, and selected the iTunes library on the NAS. I have added the iTunes library into the Twonky setup.

Now I can see the music, but I wondering how the iTunes library file will get updated automatically when new media is added to the dir on the NAS.
