Title: TeraStation Pro II - Firmware Updater doesn't find TS
Post by: st_chris on August 25, 2009, 08:33:34 AM

Hello!

I've a TeraStation Pro II TS-HTGL/R5 Series TS-2.0TGL/R5

I exchanged the 4 original 500GB HDDs with 1,5TB HDDs.

On restart the TS displayed, that there was no boot image installed.

Then a ran the TFTP Boot program which put the TS in EM Mode and the error leds disappeared.

The NASNavigator recognizes now the TS and displays ----- as firmware.

After that, I've tried to update the firmware with TSUpdater (http://www.buffalo-technology.com/support/getfile/?TS-HTGL_FW133.zip).

I changed the ini-file as in the FAQ (http://forums.buffalotech.com/buffalo/board/message?board.id=0101&thread.id=9309) described, but the TSUpdater doesn't find my TS.

Firewall/Virusprogram are all disabled, I can ping the TS, browser interface doesn't work.

I'd be very thankful for any help!

Chris

Interesting.  The thing is that here at buffalo we don't support our customer upgrading there devices with bigger drives.  Because everyone would by a 1tb ts pro 2, and then put in 4 2tb drives.  Once you take this upon yourself you void the warranty and any support from us.  Try putting the old drives back in to see if it works.

Have a nice day.

Each firmware is optimized for only certain mfr's and models of drives. There are a number of drives that haven't been tested with Buffalo storage products.

With the old drives everything works just fine.

It's a little bit disappointing, that I can't upgrade to bigger drivers...

Does that mean, if I have to replace one drive (I've got error messages since a while), I need to put in the exact same drive (size, manufacture and model)?

Thanks.
