Title: How to backup a mini LinkStation to an external drive connected toits usb connector ?

Hi,

 

The qyestion is in the topic.

 

How to backup a minilinkstation (especially to save the share folder) to an usb attached drive ?

 

seams the integrated usb connectir is only for 'IN' data flow ..?..

You will have to elabortate more on what your talking about here.  What unit do you have (model number, firmware), what kind of USB device are you using?  You can only backup from the LS>USB not USB>LS.

I dont use any for the moment : may question is :

HOW to make some backup of the NAS content itself tTO an external USB DRIVE (whatever it will be)  connected at the NAS usb connector

   Connect the USB HDD to the USB of the linkstation, open the interface page of the LS, reformat the USB to xfs in disk management then run a backup using the backup option in the interface.

Actually you're right.

 

Something annoying : Once a backup job is runnig there's no more control over it..no way to stop or suspend it  ????

   The only way to stop a backup jopb that is running is to reset the unit using the interface page or  (of course) pull the plug, but this is not recommended :P
