Title: Linkstation Live 1.21 firmware posted 8/18
Post by: Soylent on August 24, 2009, 12:44:25 AM

Where can I find a changelog or something? The link labeled "readme" for 1.21 on the firmware download page simply opens a document with a picture of something circled.

Also, I purchased my unit a month ago, and I have v1.0. Does this mean I cannot ever upgrade the firmware, since you only released an update for Firmware Version 2.0?

The 2.0 firmware version is still in the works.  But from what I have seen you should be able to use the 2.x firmware with the present devices.  Nothing is absolute yet, still waiting on the final stages of completion and testing of the firmware.  And we will have that dead file readme firmware fix taken care of soon.

The Readme file download has been fixed.

I get a message saying "LS-CHL that needs updating wasn't found". But my NAS Navigator finds it fine.

Sorry Kameran, but I think you are mistaken.  These are different hardware revisions so you cannot update the version 1 to the version 2 hardware.

Soylent, I apologize for the inconvenience.

Sorry about all the confusion, everyone.

The Version 2 Linkstation Live (LS-CHL-V2) is a different hardware revision, so the firmware needs to be for the right version. That Readme file shows how to tell if your device is the V2: the model number as shown by NASNavigator will be LS-CHL-V2. If it's not the V2, it will say LS-CHL-V1 or just LS-CHL. You need to have the most updated NASNavigator for this to be true.

LS-CHL-V1/LS-CHL takes firmware versions lower than 1.10.

LS-CHL-V2 takes firmware versions 1.10 and above.

Will there be any more firmware updates for V1?

What are the differences between V1 and V2? I just bought a LS-CH500-TL and apparently it is V1...am i better off returning it to get a V2?

I just did a quick test, it appears that the V2 has a slightly faster processor, so it will have somewhat better performance than the V1. You won't really notice a difference between the two unless you're using a gigabit connection.

Additionally, the V2 has a redesigned web interface like the Terastation III and Linkstation Pro LS-XHL.

Thank you for checking.

I do not see a huge difference, I'll keep my V1.
