Title: How can I recover my LinkStation Pro LS-XH2.0TL ?
Post by: terrible on August 23, 2009, 01:47:03 PM
   Experts,

I got my LinkStation Pro LS-XH2.0TL with firmware 1.20 as NAS and Bittorrent client for two months. It was running fine for a while. I notice that it crashed from time to time when I accessed NAS while Bittorrent was running. First time, it went to EM mode after a while, I had to reformat using web interface to get it back. Then it happended again, but this time it went to EM mode a few minutes after powered on. I was unable to get into its web interface before it went to EM mode. I tried to LSupdater.exe (1.20) to reflash its firmware. It seemed that firmware was reflashed successfully but it didn't help. Now, I give up about the data on the disk. I just want to get it back as normal. I also tried TFTP recovery, but it didn't seem to even request for TFTP (I also used Snffer to see the packets but I didn't see any TFTP requests from 192.168.11.xxx) Can anyone shed me some lights ? By the way, I also tried ACP_COMMANDER to enable telnetd and reset password. It didn't allow me to telnet into it either.

Thanks,

/Terrible

Is the unit booting up?  If it is booting up then there is no need for a TFTP boot.  What are the error messages that it gives?  Have you tried the force firmware? Try that with rebuilding the partition table and deleteing the user config.  We DO NOT support or condone the use of ACP, Telnet, or SSH.
