Title: TSHTGLR Firmware
Post by: uanmi on August 23, 2009, 08:58:44 AM

Hi, I was hoping to see a new firmware for this device. We still have problems with ntp and when we attach an external HD using the USB ports we cannot transfer data. I read somewhere that the device must be formatted after attaching to the NAS but the instructions are vague and it did not work.

Oh, I should add that joining a domain is difficult because you can only use passwords that contain letters and numbers and not characters like #, *, %, & and so on. This took us many hours to work out and it means that you can only use an account with a weak password when joining a domain.

regards, Mark

We all are waiting for new an improved firmware revisions to increase reliability and increase the usage potential of our devices.  Yes you need to format the ext usb hard drive to xfs, through the disk mangement tab.  Make sure not to delete your raid array.  And the character issue is along the lines of the file system we use.  As those characters have different meanings in this system, creating problems for all.  The trade off is still worth using xfs in relation to ntfs, but as time goes by, we will find a way to increase the usability of the device.
