Title: Backup failure
Post by: parsobarus on August 22, 2009, 04:46:15 PM
Linkstation Pro XH1.0TL - firmware 1.10 (both source & target drives for backup) A scheduled backup failed and left this log: "-------- BEGIN BACKUP 2009/08/22 04:00:02 disk1/iTunes -> Craft_room-NAS@disk1/iTunes -------- rsync: failed to connect to 192.168.1.73: No route to host (113) rsync error: error in socket IO (code 10) at clientserver.c(122) [sender=3.0.3] -------- END BACKUP 2009/08/22 04:02:20 disk1/iTunes -> Craft_room-NAS@disk1/iTunes --------" It is looking for the target at the wrong IP address. I know the IP address of the target changed when I had to do a hard reset on it. Does this mean you have to set a static IP address if you're using a Linkstation as a backup target?

Static IP helps.  If not, reconfigure your backup job after rediscovering linkstations (will have to do this each time the IP changes).

Also make sure both devices are powered up (not in any sort of sleep mode).

Finally, make sure you don't have any vlan or routing restrictions enabled.
