Title: linkstation pro dual flashing led
Post by: bruce9000 on August 20, 2009, 09:38:30 AM

Using a Linkstation Pro Duo 1tb, RAID1, FW 3.09, LS-W1.0TGL/R1-V3.  Static IP address on our network, NASNavigator2 sees it fine as does my Windows XP unit.

The "bottom" green led has been flashing continuously for over 12 hours.  I can still access the drive, but I can't find anywhere what the flashing means.  Reformatted a day ago to prepare for new deployment, ran disc check, everything seems ok.  Currently no data being stored on the drive.

Is this normal activity or should I be worried?

Is it a pattern of long and/or short spaced blinks?  What does the light look like?

Thanks for the reply.  The green LED (lower) is flashing very quickly at a steady rate without separations of any sort.  As if it were reading or continuously accessing the drive for some reason.  It's still flashing now - I'd guess the rate to be about every 1/10th second.

I've seen the middle LED emitting sequenced messages (I had orange blinking 1 - 5 earlier when I tried a reset) but this is different.

Maybe it's nothing.  As I write this I just pulled the Cat-5 off the back and the blinking stopped.  Connected again, it starts blinking again, and I can still see/read/write from my pc.

Tried mapping a shared folder for grins using Windows - works fine.  But in NASNaviator I just noticed that I get a message "remote default share is missing" when I attempt to map from that utility.  Is that a clue?

Well the default share is missing because you formatted the unit.

The light that you are referring to is the link light.  Try using a different switch and see if that helps.
