Title: Terastation live-- bad kernel- fixed- another question
Post by: gchappel on August 19, 2009, 05:17:15 AM

I have a terastation live that developed the bad kernel error.  Thanks to the help here, I was able to reload new firmware which took care of the problem.

My question is can I still trust this drive?  Is this error a sign of developing hardware problems in this system, or is the drive now stable and ready to use and trust.

Seems to be working fine at this time.

Thanks

Gary

No way of telling to be honest, you might never see the error again but it could occur in 5 minutes! Read my sig!

It could be a sign of power fluctuation in your AC voltage. Do you have a line filter and UPS for the voltage?

Interesting thought- living in Florida we get all kinds of surges.  The system is plugged into a UPS- I 'll have to watch it.  I have at least one other copy of all the data that is on this drive- but with only 2 or sometimes 3 copies of data, I do want to trust the storage.

Thanks
