It is possible to set the permissions to read only or read/write. Is there a way to restrict access completely without a password? There is data that we want to store on the Buffalo drive that we want some people to be able to access rw but others not to see at all. Is this possible?
Thanks,
Dave
Hmm sorry I don't follow you. I go to "shared folders" then click on the share in question (for this example, let's call it "MyHiddenShare"). There is
Shared Folder Attributes: Read Only or Read/Write - you are saying to set this to "read only"?
and then there is:
Access Restrictions
you are saying to enable this and then move the user who I would like to be able to read/write (call him David) over to "Read/Write".
The problem with this setup is that if I browse to the Buffalo (i.e. \\mybuffalo) I can still see MyHiddenShare and I can open files in it with out ever entering a password.
I would like it to either be invisible or say "you do not have access to this" when a user tries to open the folder unless they provide the user/pw David:MyPass
See what I mean?
