Title: Using LS-CHL as Standalone (Portable) HDD

Hi,

    Can I use the LS-CHL as a portable - standalone HDD by connecting this to the USB port of my laptop/Desktop?

    Based on this answer I have to decide? please help

   No, the devices usb ports are used for external hdd used as extra space, printers to use as a print server, and connecting to a smart UPS to shut down properly in case of a power outage.

The USB ports cannot be used to make the NAS a standalone hard drive but Im sure the LinkStation should be able to connect to a laptop via a laptop's network cable port.

The Nas units can only be used with  ethernet  cables via a direct connection or through a router, hub or switch , thats it nothing else.
