Title: LinkStation dead? I can hear HD spinning, but NO lights at all :(
Post by: danielponte on July 30, 2009, 08:52:37 AM

Well... I was so pissed at the BT client that I decided to flash my LS-CHL with the latest jap firmware.. the freaking upgrade program was entirely in jap, so I had no idea what error message it gave me.. it started the uploading process fine took about 10-15min and at the end it pop'd a screen with YES/NO and had something like "???????????????????480???????????????".. so, after this my LS blinks keeps blinking red light 6x..

I already started freaking out, but I kept myself calm and decided to try the TFTP upload.. cool, it worked, the TFTP Server showed that my LS connected to it, downloaded a couple files, and after a couple minutes while I was reading how to continue the procedure, all the lights just turned off... and now when I plug it, HD spins, ETH light is on, but no lights at the front light up :( Is it possible to do something else? I tried holding the button but still.. no lights whatsoever :(

Danielponte,

The only option would to try and perform the tftp flash again. If it fails, the unit might be currupted.
