Title: Linkstation Quad and encryption
Post by: thepublicdan on July 29, 2009, 07:06:52 AM

I am looking for encryption options for a set of linkstation quad devices.  I know I can use something like truecrypt and create encrypted containers that are stored on the drive but mounted as devices on the actual PCs.  What I really want is encryption on the server itself so that the data can be shared across the multiple PCs.

share passwords are not sufficient for the types of data I am dealing with.

Are there any options for this?

I think you're looking for functionality that Buffalo provides in their new Terasation line (Terastation Duo and Terastation III) which are more geared for business.

Both provide AES-128 volume-level encryption (i.e. you create a raid 1 mirror for example, and you can toggle encryption On/Off @ the entire raid volume level).

For Linkstations, think you're stuck :(
