We have a 6 month old LinkStation Quad that's giving us an error message of "Error has occurred in RAID Array1" and recommends "Restructuring RAID Array" . Clicking on the "Restructure RAID Array" button starts a process that completes in less than a minute (there's only 25 GB on the disk) but does not change the error message, nor does either logging off or restarting the unit.

Is this a bad disk that needs replacement?

Remove the faulty disk, attach it to a PC with a sata interface and attempt to format it using windows. If it shows as bad sectors then the disk will need to be replaced. If it does not show any errors, put the drive back in the LS, restart it and then restructure the raid once more.

OK, removed the drive from the LS Quad and installed it as a secondary drive in a Windows PC. The PC did not recognize it in either Explorer or the Disk Management section of Computer Manager. Shut everything down and removed the drive and installed it in an external USB device and it is still not recognized.

This sounds like a bad drive to me. Anyone know the Buffalo procedure for replacement?
