Title: HS-DH500GL File transfer keeps dying.
Post by: elektroorganik on July 18, 2009, 05:08:54 AM

Hi everyone, I have a Linksatation Live 500Gb network storage device and when i try and copy a file from my PC to the DH500GL the transfer just drops. Even when i transfer a jpeg! Not every time but pretty frequently. If i were to try and copy a folder with 20 pictures in it to my LS right now not all of them would make it and the connction to the linkstation would be lost. After 3/4 minutes it would come back and then happen again. It's pretty useless reall, especially as i was going to transfer my entire itunes library to it and use it over the network!!!

I have a BT home hub 2 router and the latest firmware installed on my LS (2.11). I have also initiallised it many times! Has anyone resolved this problem before?

The problem does go away when i hard wire the LS to my laptop, but i bought it as a network storgae device to sit on my router so that's how i want to use it. Saying that, I bet if it was another make of NAS I would put money it working wirelessly much better than the bufalo, so i'm not entirely sure it's the router (browsing some of the other threads on the forums). I've got a static IP setup too.

Any suggestions

 Thanks!

I find it kinda humorous that you say it cannot be the router, when infact you remove the router from the equation the problem evaporates. Ergo -----> Its the router that is causing the bottleneck.

I haven't said that i cannot be the router... I'm sure it is, that's why i've posted the thread to see if anyone has solved this problem. Possibly using the same BT hub. I just suggested that looking at other posts it seems to be a common theme when using buffalo products wirelessly these problems occur.
